Day 5: Rescue

All right, the title is a bit of an exaggeration, but I do wonder what would have happened to us if we hadn't been helped by those three kindly Japanese hikers, who saw us hobbling down the mountain.

Once again, Chris climbed the nearby peak and I elected to stay behind to save my legs (in hindsight, a thoroughly wise decision). Our campsite, already looking pretty small.

Glacier-fed pond that provided us some drinking water (unfortunately, it turned out, not enough)

We came from those mountains!!

And we could have gone there, but...no.

Chris on top of the peak!

Another view of our path

Snow fields are tiring to hike over

Boulders are only a tad bit better

Ah, some nice, packed down dirt

Chris is already looking a little burned

A fox we spotted from our rescuer's car. The first fox we've ever seen in our lives! He was a pretty, mottled rust-silver.
